Apparently September 2nd is Internet Friends Day. I was not aware of this, but it is funny to hear considering how I had already planned my next blog to be about internet friends and why they’re pretty awesome. So anyways, in honor of Internet Friends Day, let’s get to it!
Like many other people – well many other young people I suppose maybe – I have loads of internet friends. Quite a few of my friends on my Facebook and Twitter and Instagram (and Snapchat too maybe) are internet friends. Most of them are pretty awesome and I’m forever grateful that I’ve met them. So now, let’s get into how I made my internet friends.
A majority of my internet friends have come through my music selections. Anyone who knows me knows that I love a variety of music – whatever sounds good is usually what goes on my laptop/phone. Anyone who knows me knows that my number one go to for music is (and always will be) Cheryl. I mean obviously, I love Girls Aloud as well but when Cheryl went solo, she just drew me in so I’ve been following her since she went solo in 2009 (happy almost 7 years of being solo Chezzle woo!). Through Girls Aloud/Cheryl, I have made loads of friends. I can never sit here and name all of them by name, but I have made quite a few friends. What started as an equal amount of fangirling over Girls Aloud (and later Cheryl) between two people led to conversations about anything from food to boys to other music that we loved. One of my first friends that I made thanks to Girls Aloud was my good friend Nicole. Yes, I am going to talk about a few of my internet friends in this post, but that doesn’t mean they’re the only ones I love. I truly do love all of my internet friends; even if we don’t speak as much anymore.
Anyways, I met Nicole very randomly through a mutual Alouder (Girls Aloud fanbase name) friend about six years ago (has it been six years? Nicole when you read this, correct me if it’s been less than but six years sounds right lol). I don’t remember exactly how it started, but I really proper loved Girls Aloud at that time and she did too obviously, so that was just the basis of our connection. Throughout the last six years, we’ve been there for each other through the hard times – we’ve actually never had a fight, which is crazy. She’s been through a lot especially within the last year, and I tell her all the time how proud I am of her because she’s a very strong young lady that I’m incredibly proud of. Even though I want to knock her out sometimes (lol jk…sort of lol), I love her bunches. She’s like another big sister to me and I’m so glad to have her in my life.
Another one of my very best internet friends is Ant. Ant – again whom I met very randomly through the Girls Aloud fanbase some years back (it’s been like five years I think) – has just always been there. No matter how much time passes between our chats, nothing ever changes between me and that dude. He’s hilarious and all we do is gossip whenever we chat. I can always count on him to be there if I ever need a laugh or if I just need him in general, as he’s one of the most loyal people I’ve come across. He’s another very strong person, and I’m so proud of the person he’s become – strong, confident, comfortable, and happy – and I love him to bits.
Veronica – I don’t even think there’s enough words to describe this one here. Me and Veronica have been friends now for like four years – I think – it might be longer; four or five years now since me and her first began talking. Again, another one that started through fangirling over Cheryl and her amazingness. You guys know that one friend that literally will tell you what you need to here and not what you want to hear? Or that one friend who just has no filter and does not care at all what comes out of their mouth? Yes, guys, Veronica is that friend; like everyone needs a Veronica in their life – one that’s like my Veronica. Veronica is another one I want to knock out a couple times (lol I might be joking – I love you though), but she’s also another strong person who I believe in loads and loads. She’s that friend who will go to war for you if she has to, and I am so happy that she’s all loved up and everything because she deserves all the happiness in the world. One of the realest on my team; I already know it.
I also have quite a few of my newer internet friends – well I’ve known them for a while kind of but I never really spoke to them; we just followed each other through the love of Cheryl. One of my newer internet friends is new little sister (lol), Grace. Grace is so hilarious; but she’s one of the brightest people I’ve ever met with her quirky ways that light up a room, and the brains like no other – she’s a smart cookie. I actually just started properly speaking to her a week or two ago, but honestly when she snapchatted me through the whole Fifth Harmony concert the other night (still buzzing), that solidified our friendship. Lol…nah but she’s a good one. I actually love her to bits and I’m grateful to call her my friend now as well, because she’s truly awesome. (us American fans got to stick together).
Another one of my newer internet friends – well kind of new – is Lily (aka Queen Lilypad lol). Lily is hilarious as well; the sort of dry humor that we all need in his friends. This is another one of my Girls Aloud fan friends; I think we started speaking really on Wattpad when I was writing something Cheryl related and she was messaging me about updating the writings. She’s so funny and cool, and I’m glad me and her are friends as well as she’s very loyal and a person you can talk to about anything. She’s my fam 😉 lol.
Of course, I couldn’t leave out this one of my Girls Aloud fan friends – Sarah! Sarah is sunshine – she’s absolutely hilarious but can throw some smart remarks in there when I ask her about her fan fiction updates. All jokes aside though, Sarah’s a pretty fun, loyal person with a heart of gold, and she’s one of the best writers I’ve ever seen. Aside from all that, she’s a humble person and someone who’s easy to talk to. She’s one of the coolest around.
Not all of my friends are through Cheryl. I have a few internet friends that have either come from online classes together or from reblogs on Tumblr posts. Anyways, what I’m saying here is that internet friends actually aren’t that bad. It’s interesting to meet people from all walks of life from different parts of the world that share similar interests. I’m not trying to say that having internet friends is better than in person friends – because I truly have some great in person friends – but it’s also great having internet friends – aka my international friends.
Anyways, I know this post is pretty late because ‘Internet Friends Day’ was a couple days ago, but happy belated Internet Friends Day to my Internet Friends; love you all millions and here’s to many years of friendship to come (as long as the internet is alive lol).
Happy Belated Internet Friends Day
